Songkran at Nana PlazaWhen the weather heats up and the calendar turns to April, it’s time for water guns, bikinis and beer at Nana Plaza. Yes, Songkran is here again and the World’s Largest Adult Playground will be ground zero for wet-and-wild fun this Thai New Year.

Unlike in previous years, all but one of Nana Plaza’s 30-plus bars will be open this year and several watering holes will be getting every wetter as they host a daytime spashfest April 13-15.

Angelwitch and Suckers go-go girls will be out with guns and buckets to join the crew from the VW Sports Bus and Short-Time beer bars from 1-5 p.m. Expect wet t-shirts and itsy-bitsy-teeny-weeny bikinis, as well as plenty of alcohol as all the outside bars offer great drink deals to keep your insides cool in the sweltering Thai summer weather.

Once the sun sets, the party continues inside Angelwitch and Suckers with the New Year getting happier by the hour.

Smack in the middle of the water-war zone, the Nana Beer Garden and Lucky Luke’s Tiki Bar will be closed during daytime hours, but will be a welcome oasis with plenty of towels once the evening cease-fire is declared after 7 p.m.

Also closed this year from April 13-15 will be Spanky’s a-Go-Go on the middle floor.  While Spanky says he hates to miss Songkran, “it makes the girls happy to go home and builds morale, keeping Spanky’s great!”

Expect the entire crew back refreshed and ready to party Sunday the 16th.

Another bar that traditionally closes for the important Thai holiday – Mercury Go-Go – will be open this year. All the Stumble Inn Group’s other properties – Stumble Inn and Big Dogs – also will be open as usual. Only the Beer Garden and Tiki Bar will have hours restricted to nighttime.

All of Nana Plaza’s other go-go bars, including some Thai-owned bars that closed in prior years, plan to open as normal during the holiday. No other parties are planned right now, but that could change, so be sure to follow our Facebook and Twitter feeds.

Bar owners and managers say Songrkan is a busy time at Nana Plaza, so get here early and expect to have a rollicking time into the wee hours.
